Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Miken Freak 23 Maxload USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MFK23U? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Does this bat have a 12 inch barrel? JAMES R NIELSEN
The 2018 Miken Freak 23 Maxload USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MFK23U does feature a 12 inch barrel.
Cameron
I'm looking for an ultra II end loaded slow pitch bat. bob
Unfortunately, the Miken Ultra II Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MSU2 is a balanced bat. I would recommend the 2017 Miken Freak Patriot Maxload Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MPTRSS if you want something similar under the senior slow pitch category but with an end-load.
Dan
What is the difference between the MFK23A and the MFK23U? Are they both approved for SPN leagues? Aaron
The difference is the MFK23A is approved for ASA leagues, while the MFK23U is approved for USSSA, NSA and ISA leagues. SPA leagues require USSSA certification according to their rulebook on the website here: www.slo-pitch.com.
Kyle J.
Is this similar to or replacing the Freak 30? eddie
Yes, this bat is very similar to the Miken Freak 30, and shares a lot of the same construction technology.
Kyle J.
I'm not familiar with the difference between Endload and Maxload. Are they the same? Can you describe differences? Nick
A standard end load for most bats is 0.5 oz. For Miken bats, like the 2018 Miken Freak 23 Maxload USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MFK23U, Maxload indicates that the bat features the standard half ounce end load, SuperMax would indicate a full ounce end load for Miken bats.
Logan
I'm currently swinging the new DC-41. How does this compare to that? Boeing78787
This 2018 Miken Freak 23 Maxload USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (MFK23U) will differ from the 2018 Miken DC-41 SuperMax USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (MDC17U) as this Freak 23 has a shorter 12" barrel length (DC-41 has a 14" barrel length) and less of an end-loaded feel to it (DC-41 features a SuperMax load while the Freak 23 has only a MaxLoad).
Ben
Which bat has more power: (2017 Freak 30 -or- 2018 Freak 23)? Jclos
Both this 2018 Miken Freak 23 Maxload USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (MFK23U) and last year's Freak 30 are excellently rated bats. I would recommend either to be honest. It might be hard to get a Freak 30 since it is an older bat, so I might suggest the Freak 23 since it is more easily attainable.
Ben
How does the balance of this bat feel when compared to the 2018 DeMarini Steel? Gus
The 2018 Miken Freak 23 Maxload USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MFK23U will most likely feel heavier when compared to the 2018 DeMarini Steel ASA / USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: WTDXSTL as the Freak 23 features a 1/2 ounce end-load.
Cameron
Is this bat as "hot" as Miken the Senior Softball bats? wah
No, the Senior Softball bats are held to a different standard in certification testing that allows for them to be the highest performing bats on the market. This 2018 Miken Freak 23 Maxload USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MFK23U is certified by USSSA and will be a lower performing model.
Tyler
I'm torn between this bat and the Miken Freak Hybrid for 2019. I'm a base hitter that likes to have good feel and control to go down the lines with a little bit of power. Which would you recommend? Mike
Both this 2018 Miken Freak 23 Maxload USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (MFK23U) and the 2019 Miken Freak Hybrid Maxload USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (M12ALY) will feature a half ounce end-load. Due to that, I think each model will be fine to control, but also will be able to provide a little bit of power for an adult player. At the time of your question, we have a lot more reviews on the Freak 23 and they are mostly positive. Because of that, I would suggest the Freak 23.

About the Brand

During the past few years, serious softball players have looked to Miken Sports for bats that provide the highest levels of performance and durability. Our relentless focus on both technology and the demands of players has made Miken the most demanded line of softball bats today.

Although composites are the latest trend in softball bats, the technology has been the core of Miken's success since the company's inception. Miken pioneered the modern high-performance composite softball bat in 1998 and has pushed the limits with every model since. No other bat company has driven innovation as hard, and the results are indisputable. Look around. If a player is serious about softball, they are most likely swinging a Miken bat.

The success of Miken Sports has been driven by two forces - innovation and a passion for delivering what players demand. The results are obvious. Players have decided that composites are the future for bats, and no one does composite like Miken.
