Description

New for the season! The 'Glowstick' from Rawlings is back and bright as ever. The Quatro baseball bat made such an impact during its debut season that Rawlings has decided to bring it back for a second go around. They've pushed the standards of baseball bats to new levels and bat technology to never before seen performance levels that outshine the competition (pun intended). Performance, flex, balance, and ball flight are just a few of the features that the Rawlings Quatro is sure to enhance during each and every at-bat. If you're a contact hitter who can handle a longer barrel, the Quatro is a perfect fit for you. While it does have an extended barrel construction for more plate coverage, a newly designed lightweight end cap reduces unnecessary weight towards the end of the barrel which helps increase overall swing speed and control through the zone. On top of that, the patented hinge system delivers focused flex, which helps hitters swing through the ball and generate unbelievable pop. Yet again, Rawlings is peeling back the curtains, so to speak, and displaying the carbon fiber composite barrel insides through the Tru-View Technology. Between the composite barrel and handle is Rawlings' Vibration Dampening Technology (VDT), also known as the 'Quatro Collar,' which is a silicone-infused collar that eliminates sting in the hands and provides an incredibly smooth feel at impact. The best part? Each one of these Rawlings Quatro baseball bats are made with pride in the USA (patent pending). Rawlings: Above The Standard!

This Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB8Q3) features a standard 2 5/8-inch barrel diameter, a drop 3 length to weight ratio, and the BBCOR certification sticker across the taper for high school and collegiate approval. With feedback from their collegiate advisory staff, Rawlings is positive that the Quatro BBCOR bat will be a home run for whoever decides to use it. Get ready to crush the next pitch thrown your way and buy one of these Rawlings baseball bats today with free shipping and a full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty period! Don't forget, we'll be here for you from click to hit!

Excellent Bat Gordan Smithfield parent

Pros: This bat has good balance and pop. Good quality no problems after 100+ swings at batting practice. Rawlings has an excellent bat when they started making the Quatro. I'm not a fan of the VELO but the Quatro is a totally different feel, sound, etc.

Cons: Little pricey but it was worth it.

Nice bat with terrible durability Jerry parent

Pros: Bat is hot out of the wrapper. My son is a sophomore in high school and hit several over the fence and sprayed hard line drives in the gaps.

Cons: We have had this bat for 3 weeks and my son came home from practice with a crack in the sweet spot of the barrel. Kind of sad to pay $399 for a bat and it cracks within a month. Gonna send it off for a replacement bat but should not have to since we have had the bat for less than a month. Hopefully the replacement will last a bit longer but not very hopeful it will. I definitely would not buy this model again.

quarto 2018 ty-guy the baseball player player

Pros: great bat in general rediculous amount of pop and balanced end weight this is the best baseball bat i've ever swung hands down!!

Cons: i bought like 2 of these but the reason why i did was because it doesn't break very easily and when it breaks it stinks my bat exploded on contact. The price is a little too high for a bat that is very brittle.

Don't waste your money Travis Ponson parent

Pros: The bat does have pop

Cons: I bought the bat August 1, 2017. I had to send it back to Rawlings on October 28, 2017 because the knob pin came out and cut my son during BP. (Which I had to pay the shipping) They fixed the knob pin and shipped it back to me. Today is February 21, 2018 and the bat broke during BP. Which means that I will have to pay to ship it back to Rawlings again to have the bat replaced. For this kind of money they should deliver a higher quality product.

Think twice before you spend the $$$ frustrated player player

Pros: Major pop for an end-loaded bat!

Cons: Busted 2 of these this year! Original lasted 3 months until the end cap flew off and replacement shattered after a week. If you've got crazy money then have at it! if you expect a $400 bat to last for a full season, be cautious. A teammate had his shatter the same week as mine did (both 2018 Quatro 32/29 BBCOR) and neither of ours were even broken in yet (both less than a couple of weeks old). Something is wrong with that!

Pros: has great pop good feel

Cons: bat is not durable. bought one for my son who is 6ft tall 245pound. cracked it in a game, sent it back rawling sent me a new one. which was nice. three months later it cracked again!so i again sent it back, rawlings again sent me a new one.but this time on the bat they sent me it was etched no warranty. mind you my son only used this bat in games as he uses a wood bat for all his cage work. if your going to spend 400 dollars on a bat it should be durable

Pros: My son who plays high school baseball likes the bat. Good pop and balance.

Cons: We have gone through three of these bats and they keep breaking. We are using it properly and not hitting in cold temperatures. But the bat seems to have a short lifespan when it is used regularly.

Product Defect Kaiser_MK parent

Pros: When in working order, it was the preferred bat of choice between if and the Voodoo.

Cons: After less than a month of use during the high school season, (5-7 games) the bat snapped at the handle on a swing - no contact. The bat broke before the inner alloy began to taper up from the handle through the barrel. There seems to be a serious design defect considering the number of people who have reported similar durability issues. I have contacted Rawlings to initiate a return request. I hope that Rawlings follows through with their warranty program and replaces the bat.

Pros: I'm 15 and 150 pounds, so im really not that big of a kid. The bat is amazing tho, TONS of pop. Even tho i'm not big I was still hitting the ball 300+ feet. I ended my first year of high school baseball batting .510 with 22 hits. The bat was great.

All time great, durability lacking (bbcor review) Baseball Bats Are Cool Player

Pros: Bat has great swing weight, and has a great feel, and as a two piece composite, it has a very forgiving barrel. I don’t think any other bat is this light, has as good of a sweet spot, and this much pop all at the same time, making this an all time great

Cons: Extremely breakable, and doesn’t last more than a couple hundred pitches. Take a couple dozen swings to break it in if it’s new, and then only use it in games.

Will a 31/28 size be available? tommydee
The 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 is currently not available in a 31 inch model. To learn if Rawlings will make this size we would recommend reaching out to Rawlings directly.
Cameron
Out of all the new rawlings bats which would be the best bat for a power hitter? I am a freshmen in college and I am 6'0", 255 pounds. papi34
I would recommend the Rawlings VELO for a power hitter due to its one-piece design providing a stiffer feeling swing that is normally preferred by power hitters.
Kyle J.
What kind of hitter is this bat meant for? In the Rawlings video it says middle of the line up hitters. What exactly do they mean by this? Baseball1
The 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 features a balanced swing weight, and its design works well for any type of hitter. If you prefer a balanced bat, then the Quatro is a great option for you.
Jason
Is this BBCOR made in a 30/27? BMan
The 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 is not made in a 30" 27 oz. size.
Logan
I'm 6'2", 190 and hit for power. Would you recommend this bat, the Rawlings VELO, or the Louisville Slugger Prime 918? Zach
The 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 and the LS Prime 918 are similar in that they are both fully composite bats with balanced swing weights while the Rawlings VELO is a one-piece alloy bat with a balanced swing weight. All three bats would make great choices for someone who is a power hitter. Based on your height and weight we would recommend getting one of these bats in either a 33 or 34 inch model.
Cameron
What's the difference between this model and last years? Duner
The main difference in the 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 and the 2017 model is a newly designed end cap that reduces the swing weight, giving the hitter more control of the bat.
Logan
Which Rawlings bat do you recommend for a 10 year old little league player? Ryan
I would recommend the 2018 Rawlings Quatro -10 USA Baseball Bat: US8Q10 for a 10 year old Little League Baseball Player.
Carter
Is this bat eligible for high school baseball regulations? Andy
This 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB8Q3) features BBCOR .50 certification and will be allowed for use in high school baseball.
Ben
What is the warranty policy on this bat? I've read many reviews of the 2017 model that talks about it breaking. If the bat breaks will it be replaced? What if the replacement breaks? Bill
The 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 comes with a 12 month manufacturer's warranty.
Dan
If you were buying a new composite bat for a high school player, if you were between the 2018 Rawlings Quatro or the 2017 DeMarini CF Zen. Your personal opinion as well as your colleagues opinions are also appreciated. Andrew
They're both great bats, they both have a light weight end cap allowing for better weight distribution and a more balanced feeling. The Quatro is a four piece composite allowing it to have better sting reduction than the CF Zen. But what the Zen offers is better durability with the paraflex composite. However, both bats have a 12 month warranty. Performance will be very similar due to the composite material, the decision would really be decided on what bat you like and what each bat offers over the other.
Mick
How does this bat compare to the LS Prime 918 as far as balance? dan
The 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR baseball bat (BB8Q3) and the 2018 Louisville Slugger Prime 918 BBCOR Baseball Bat (WTLBBP918B3) are both well balanced.
Damon
I am 5'9" and 140 lbs. Would you say this is a heavier bat or a well balanced bat? joel
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would recommend getting this 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB8Q3) in the 32" size. This 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB8Q3) will be more of a well balanced bat in its feel.
Ben
Is this bat approved for collegiate play by the NCAA? Same question for 2017 model. baseballdad
Yes, both the 2017 and 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 are legal for play in college. They both have the BBCOR certification which make them legal for play in the NCAA.
Jason
My son is 5'10" and 160 lbs. What length you recommend? What is real difference between 2017 model & 2018? Patrick
Based on your player's height and weight, we would make a general recommendation of getting a BBCOR bat in the 32" length as long as the 29 oz weight can be handled effectively. This 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB8Q3) is very similar to the 2017 Quatro as both bats feature the Carbon Fiber Composite Barrel and the Quatro Collar that absorbs & eliminates any negative vibration. The biggest difference will be the slight cosmetic difference between the 2 bats.
Ben
I am 5'10" and weigh 190 lbs. What size would you recommend? Jones
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 33" version of the 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3.
Jason
Since this bat is composite, can this bat be used in 75 degrees or below. Scruv
We do not recommend using the 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Bat (BB8Q3) in temperatures below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Check out our list of bat care tips that will help you keep your baseball bat in the best condition possible: https://www.justbats.com/bat-resource-guide/bat-care/
JP
My son is a 5'6" 180 lb 13 year old. What size makes the most sense for him? Jim
Based on your player's height and weight, a 33 inch BBCOR would be his ideal size in regards to the 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3. When one factors in his age it may be wiser to go smaller with either a 32 or possibly a 31 inch model. This all depends on the player's strength and the weight of his current bat and how well he can handle this bat.
Cameron
I'm 5'8" and 170 lbs. What size would you recommend? Aidan
Based on your player's height and weight, I would recommend getting this 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB8Q3) in the 32" length.
Ben
How does this bat compare to the Orange 2015 Easton XL1. My son is a freshman in HS and has played travel ball since he was nine. Is currently using the 2015 Easton XL1 and hits bombs with it. He is 5'9" 160lbs and is using a 32/29. Randall
The 2015 Easton XL1 was a USSSA bat while the 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 is a BBCOR certified bat, thus the XL1 is naturally going to be a higher performing bat because of the regulations on each. However, the Quatro is a balanced bat which should provide an increase in bat control through the zone compared to the end-loaded XL1.
Tyler
Will this bat ever be made in a 31 inch? josh knoth
The 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 is not made in a 31" 28 oz. size.
Dan
Does the 2018 Quatro need to be "worked in" before swinging at full strength? Matt
Yes, we would recommend a break-in period for the Quatro just like any other composite bat. Generally 100-200 swings off a tee or soft toss is what we recommend.
Kyle J.
Is this a USA bat? gina
The 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 is a BBCOR bat, not a USA bat.
Carter
Is this bat anything like the 918 Prime or as balanced? I am looking for a balanced bat with some good pop. Nick
The 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 is similar to the LS Prime 918. It will offer a fully composite design with a balanced swing weight.
Cameron
How much better is this bat from the last year's version? skeet
The 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 features a newly designed lightweight end cap that creates a more balanced feel and enhanced bat control over the 2017 Rawlings Quatro.
Carter
Recommended 100-200 swings off tee first but does bat need to be rotated 1/4 turn during break in? What about when batting after it is broken in? Mike
When breaking in a bat with a composite barrel, like this 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB8Q3), we recommend taking 100-200 swings and rotating the barrel a 1/4" every 20 swings. You can either do this by hitting off a tee or by hitting soft tosses. This helps ensure that the entire barrel is broken in. With any metal bat (aluminum or composite), you want to avoid hitting the ball in the same spot every time you make contact.
Taylor
I have this bat in 32" and it feels almost too light. I"m 14, 6"1 and 160 pounds. Do you suggest I exchange it for a larger version or go with a completely different bat? D1 bound
Based on your height and weight, I would suggest swinging a 33" BBCOR bat such as the 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3.
Logan
Is this bat end-loaded or balanced? Nautas
This 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB8Q3) will feature a balanced swing feel.
Ben
Which bat would have a faster swing speed between this and the DeMarini CF Zen? Owen
Both the CF Zen and the 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 will provide a balanced swing weight. However, the newly designed lightweight end cap on the Quatro with reduce the swing weight even further to optimize bat control through the zone.
Tyler
How would this compare to the 2017 voodoo insane bbcor? Like the feel and swing. wes
The 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 will swing lighter as it is a balanced bat, and it will feel more comfortable on contact as the composite material of the barrel should lessen the vibrations.
Tyler
What is the difference between the Rawlings Quatro 2017 and 2018? finn
Not much has changed from the 2017 model to the 2018 model. If you can find the 2017 model in your size, I would look at getting one since it would be much cheaper and is basically the same bat.
Kyle J.
I am 6 ft and 170 lbs. What size bat should I get? rolo
We would suggest a 32" or 33" length for your height and weight.
Kyle J.
I bought a Quatro and now when you swing it or turn it upside down it sounds like there is sand in the barrel. Is this cosmetic or should I worry about this affecting the function? Chuck
When you hear "sand" or "pebbles" rattling around in the barrel, it is typically adhesive that has come loose after making contact with baseballs. If you haven't noticed a decline in the performance of your 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB8Q3), I would recommend that you keep using it as normal. If you have noticed a decline in the bat's performance, let us know and we would be happy to help facilitate a warranty replacement with the manufacturer!
Taylor
Do they make it in 32' 28 oz? Steve
All BBCOR bats, like the 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3, will feature a -3 length to weight ratio. Thus you cannot find the 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 in a 32/28 as all 32 inch models will be 29 ounces.
Cameron
I am 13 years old and am a 5'11" 155 pound 7th grader. Would you recommend this bat for me and if so what size would you recommend? Rock
I would certainly recommend the 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3, and based on your size I would say either a 31" or 32" option, but unfortunately this particular model is only available in the 32" size.
Tyler
Does this bat have durability issues? jd
We have not seen anything out of the ordinary with regards to durability on the 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3. With any bat, it is hard to say how long it may last before becoming defective. To gain an idea towards the durability of a bat, reading through the reviews can be beneficial.
Cameron
My son is 15 and is 5'7" and 150 pounds. He swings a 31 COMBAT BBCOR now, I am just unsure if he will be ok with the 32 inch Quatro. I have been researching the Quatro and would like to get him one. What are your thoughts about him moving up to a 32 in? bombers
Based on your son's height and weight, he should have no issue moving to a 32'' 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3.
Tori
I am 5'10'' and 160 pounds. What size should I get? Thor
Based on your height and weight, I would recommend getting the 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 in a 32''.
Tori
What wood bat turn model is this bat closest to? Phillip
It is hard to compare the 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3, or any other metal bat for that matter, to a wood bat as the barrel on a BBCOR bat will be 2 5/8" and most wood bats will be 2 1/2". There are a few wood bats that will be 2 5/8" in barrel diameter but these bats are usually 243 turn models are are end-loaded, this Rawlings Quatro bat would be balanced. A good balanced wood bat to consider would be either a 271 or 110 turn model such as the Rawlings VELO Birch Wood Baseball Bat: R110BV.
Cameron
Is the Rawlings Quatro a balanced or end-loaded bat? Nachos
The 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB8Q3) will feature a balanced swing feel to it.
Ben
My son is 5' 5" and weighs 135 lbs. Which Quatro BBCOR size bat length would you recommend? Were there any flaws in the 2017 Quatro and have those flaws been corrected in the 2018 model? Keoni
Based on your son's height and weight, I would recommend getting the 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 in a 31''. There were not any major flaws in the 2017 Quatro.
Tori
My son is 13 years old 5'10 120 what size bat is best for him. Baseball dad
Given your player's specifications, I would suggest a 32" model of this 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3. However, if the weight of the bat was too much, a 31" option would certainly work as well.
Tyler
How does this bat compare to the CAT 7? Jay
This 2018 Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB8Q3) will be quite different from a CAT 7 in the way it is built. This Quatro is a two-piece, all-composite bat while the CAT 7 is an all-aluminum bat. However, both bats perform excellently when hitting a baseball.
Ben
Bat grip tearing. My son bats left handed and the grip on last two Rawlings Quatro bats have bunched up or come apart. Should the grip be wrapped the opposite way for a lefty or is this something he is doing to cause grip to bunch up? Jason Wilson
The Rawlings Quatro BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB8Q3 and all bat grips will be originally wrapped for right handed hitters. For a left handed hitter I would wrap the grip the opposite way and that will prevent the bunching up or tearing.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
