Great Bat... Chris Casteel coach

Pros: I purchased the LXT and it arrived on Thursday and we had a tournament on Saturday. My daughters first at bat with it was a stand up triple and her next at bat she hit the fence. I highly recommend it.

LXT is Lights-Out Reid L. parent

Pros: Solid stick...my daughter's first game with it, an 18U showcase (she is 15), she went 3 for 3 with seven RBI, including a grand-slam. Solid sweet spot, no vibration...HR never got more than 20 feet off the ground and left the yard, hit the berm and rolled through the parking lot. Just awesome.

Performing Well so far JS parent

Pros: Large sweet spot, good pop off the barrel. Can't say that it was "super hot" right out of the wrapper as some have described. The 2015 Mako was her go-to bat, and wanted to remain loyal to Easton, but the listed durability issues of the Ghost made us switch to a Louisville for the first time. DD is a college player, and although has not dramatically increased her BA, I am expecting a solid performance from this bat and she seems happy with it so far.

Cons: The latest year model price is always a killer. Don't think it will change, but am always hopeful..

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger LXT -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPLX18A9? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What is the difference between the LXT -9 and Easton Ghost -9? Is one end loaded? Gary
The 2018 Louisville Slugger LXT -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPLX18A9 will feature a more balanced swing weight as opposed to the 2018 Easton Ghost Double Barrel -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP18GH9 which will feature an end loaded swing weight.
Dan
My daughter is 5 foot 9, around 170 lbs. I know she needs a 34" length, but would the -9 be heavy enough in Louisville LXT? Rachelle
The proper weight of bat is hard to suggest without being able to see the player's swing mechanics and things like that. The 2018 Louisville Slugger LXT -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPLX18A9 is well balanced, so if you aren't sure if the 34" -9 is heavy enough, you may want to look at the end loaded 2018 Louisville Slugger PXT -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPPX18A9.

Is going from a -10 drop to a -9 drop a huge difference? chacne
The difference between those two sizes will simply be an ounce. Whether that amount will be noticed will be dependent upon the player using the bat. In this case, the 2018 Louisville Slugger LXT -9 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPLX18A9 does still have an ultra balanced swing weight that should allow for an easier transition to a -9 from a -10 model.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
