Whole Team Love It Rocky Mountain Player player

Pros: It is a good looking bat, and has plenty of pop right out of the wrapper. For an end loaded bat it isn't to noticeable. 6 other guys on my team use it and love it. First game I was drilling line drives in the gaps at every at bat.

Cons: The only thing bad I would say about it is there is no flare on the nob. I know some Louisville Slugger softball bats come with some flare. It's a preference thing but a 5 dollar flare piece from Dicks fixed that.

Best bat out in 2018 Ryan player

Pros: the long barrel makes it feel more like a balanced bat, barely feel an endload. swings light and easy. has added 30+ feet to my swing easily over last year. absolute game changer for me.

Cons: with such an improvement in power, i see myself trying for the fences more often leading to long pop outs. my own fault, not the bat!

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Maxload USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MF20MU? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is the Freak MF20MU more durable than the Psycho MPDILUA or the same, and why is the Freak bat more forgiving? It appears the material of construction and dimensions are the same. Which would you recommend for a power hitter? Hippo
Both bats are essentially the same models, just with slightly different cosmetics. As you mentioned, they both have nearly identical technology and construction since both use the Triple Matrix Core +, 100 Comp, and Flex 2 Power technologies, and both have a 14" barrel length and .5 oz end load. I would go with the bat that appeals to you more visually, as performance-wise they should be nearly identical.
Kyle J.
Why is one side of the barrel thicker then the other side? keyslay
That is not the case with this bat. Axe bats are the only models where the barrel is thicker on one side than the other, and that is due to the unique handle that forces you to make contact with the same side each swing.
Kyle J.
Does the 26 oz. have a 12" barrel as well? ERTFD1245
The 2018 Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Maxload USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat (MF20MU) features a 14-inch barrel length.
JP
Several people have mentioned there is a difference in barrel thickness on the Miken Freak. Is there a certain side that should be used to hit? Or should we use the old method of rotating the bat each use to break in all sides equally? Thank you for your time. Ron
With the 2018 Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Maxload USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MF20MU, I would recommend rotating the bat the traditional way to fully break-in the composite barrel evenly.
Tyler
We use the Trump 44 cor/.375 comp softball. Is there any bat that actually hits this ball better or does it matter? poppasmurf
From our experience, bats are not designed to hit certain balls better than others, and a power hitter will still be a power hitter no matter the ball. That said, this Miken Freak is probably one of the better performing bats out there for 2018, along with their DC-41.
Kyle J.
How much end load weight does this bat have? Brian
The 2018 Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Maxload USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MF20MU has a half ounce end load swing weight.
Tyler
I need a new bat and I am fairly strong. I am undecided between the 2018 Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Maxload USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MF20MU versus the 2018 Miken DC-41 SuperMax USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MDC17U They are the same price. I trust your opinion. Which bat would you recommend? Brian
Both bats are excellent choices honestly, but if you prefer power over everything else than I would recommend the 2018 Miken DC-41 SuperMax because it has a full 1 oz end-load, while the 2018 Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Maxload only has a .5 oz end-load to it. The added end load will help with powre if you can handle the heavier feel.
Kyle J.
Is this a single or dual wall? Jim
Miken does not state specifically and did not provide us with those specs and information, but most bats are single wall models so I would wager this one is as well.
Kyle J.
Are there 2 different color patterns for this bat? I've seen images of this bat with a black knob, and the one imaged here has an orange/ pink knob. All seem to have the same MF20MU model number. Brian
It does appear that there were two colors for the knob manufactured for the Miken Freak 20th Anniversary Maxload USSSA Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MF20MU. There are no differences in these bats other than the knob color.

About the Brand

During the past few years, serious softball players have looked to Miken Sports for bats that provide the highest levels of performance and durability. Our relentless focus on both technology and the demands of players has made Miken the most demanded line of softball bats today.

Although composites are the latest trend in softball bats, the technology has been the core of Miken's success since the company's inception. Miken pioneered the modern high-performance composite softball bat in 1998 and has pushed the limits with every model since. No other bat company has driven innovation as hard, and the results are indisputable. Look around. If a player is serious about softball, they are most likely swinging a Miken bat.

The success of Miken Sports has been driven by two forces - innovation and a passion for delivering what players demand. The results are obvious. Players have decided that composites are the future for bats, and no one does composite like Miken.
