Outstanding Fastpitch Bat TSchmidt Parent

Pros: This DeMarini CF-Zen is a comfortable, well-balanced bat with lots of pop. My daughter switched from a Louisville Slugger Xeno to the Zen and her season was on another planet. She loves this bat and I'm glad we made the switch. Give it a chance, it's an investment and money well spent.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Does this replace the CFX? 808warriors
Yes, the 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 has replaced the CFX models from 2018. Minimal changes were made when comparing the CFX lineup to the Zen models.
Cameron
Is this bat as hot as the CF8 model 30-19? Whaley
Although we have not received much feedback yet on the new 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 we would imagine this bat is going to be similar in terms of performance when compared to the previous CF8 models.
Cameron
My daughter will be 8 years old in a few months, weighs 51 lbs, and is exactly 48 inches tall. Would you recommend the 28/17 or 29/18? Just curious. I wish I could get both but I can't. SoftballDad
Based upon your players information I would recommend going with a 28'' 17 oz in the 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19.
Max
Is this bat legal for USSSA, ASA and high school? racindave
Yes, the 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFS19) is approved for play in USSSA, ASA, NSA, ISA, ISF and for high school play.
John
My granddaughter is 11. She is 4'9" and is the 31/20 a good size for her? papa
A 31" bat would be a good length for her. However, you may want to consider going to to the 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFP19. If she is strong enough, you will see greater performance from a -10 at this age than the -11 option.
Daveron
My daughter is 5'6'' and weighs 190 lbs. What size bat do you recommend? She has a 32-22 Quatro right now, but wants to get a Zen. Electricman
Based on her height and weight, it would suit her best to move up to a 33'' in the 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19.
Tori
My daughter is 15 yo and is 5’4” about 115 lbs. Should she swing a -10 or -11? What size would you recommend? dbreezy
I would recommend going with a -10 based off your players height and weight in approximately a 32''. I feel like the 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 would be too light for your daughter in the near future.
Max
My daughter is 5 feet 2 inches, 125 pounds and 16 years old. What size would you recommend? Adrian Raya
With the size specs you listed, we would suggest a 31" bat. The 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 is intended for younger players. For a 16 year old player, we would suggest a -10 or -9 like the 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFP19.
Daveron
My daughter is a power hitter. She wants a minus 11. She's a High School player, plans to play in college etc. What is the top of the line fast pitch DeMarini? I think it is this CF Zen, is that the case? jim
DeMarini's top of the line model is currently this 2019 CF Zen, that is correct.
Kyle J.
My daughter is a left-handed slapper and has always used the DeMarini Slapper bat. Would you suggest the Zen since they stopped making the slapper? She is 14, 5'2" tall and 105 lbs. Used a 31"/21 oz last year. Suggestions? Andy
Yes, the 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -11 would be a great choice. The Slapper model was only different than a regular CF Zen in that the barrel length was extended by about 1" ,and the grip tape was wound in the opposite direction to try and better suit a left-hander. The CF Zen and the Slapper are essentially the same construction minus these differences.
Kyle J.
Is this bat end loaded? Brian
The 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 will not be end loaded. The 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 will be a balanced model.
Max
My daughter is 9 years old, 77 lbs and 4'4" tall. What bat size would you recommend? SoftballMom
Based on her height and weight, I would recommend getting her the 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 in a 29''.
Tori
I have a general question on all DeMarini bats, especially the high-end bats: Is there a one-year warranty if the bat is purchased through your online store? Tony Podlaski
Yes, the DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 will come with a one year warranty if the bat is purchased through us here at www.JustBats.com.
Max
Is this a good bat for a 14 year old Slapper? Celine Jenkins
The DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 could certainly work well for a 14 year old Slapper type hitter. Another model to consider would be the DeMarini CFX Slapper -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA; these bats are specifically designed for a slapper hitter.
Cameron
My daughter is strictly a power hitter. She is 13 and is looking for a 33 drop 10 based on her hitting coach's recommendation. What DeMarini bat would you recommend? Both of our daughters who play have used DeMarini bats due to their quality...but both have had different hitting strengths. Pete
With the specs provided, a suggestion would be sticking with two piece options, like the DeMarini CF Zen -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFP19. We normally do not suggest end loaded bats for players until the high school age. One to look into at that time would be the DeMarini CF Insane -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFI19.
Daveron
My daughter is 11 years old and is 5'4 and weighs 91 lbs. What size bat would you recommend? Rich
Based on your player's specifications, I would recommend a 32" version of the DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19.
Tyler
My daughter struggles with her timing, but when she connects with it it’s a great hit. She’s 5’5" tall, 130 lbs and 14 years old. Would you recommend this bat? Lindsay Ogden
The DeMarini CF Zen has been a good performing bat for several years and is routinely one of our best sellers. This would be a good option for any player.
Kyle
My daughter is starting HS softball this spring, she's diminutive (5'2", 97 lbs) but is really getting stronger and starting to hit the ball hard. Was and is a good contact hitter, finding her stride. Is this bat too much of a step up? She also bunts and slaps (lefty). Phil
The DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 would be a good option for a smaller FR in high school. As she gets older/stronger you will want to move up to a -10 as durability on a -11 bat moving up through the high school ranks can come into play. Per her current height and weight, we would recommend the DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 in a 32 inch.
Cameron
I am looking to get my daughter a 2019 DeMarini CF Zen-11 29/18 or 30/19 she is 4'10" weighs around 82 lbs. which one would recommend? KaylasDad
Based on her height and weight, I would suggest going with at least the 30" 19 ounce DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 given those two sizes.
Logan
My daughter is 4’6” and about 66 lbs. According to the calculator it suggests a 30” bat but I was thinking of ordering her a 31” that she can choke up on and grow into and get more use of the bat. Is that an ok idea or should I just get her the 30”? Daniel
Whether or not to go with a 30 or 31 inch bat is strictly personal preference. The DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 is very balanced so if a player is on the border of a 30-31 inch model she should be fine. If she needs to choke up slightly there is nothing wrong with doing so although some players are resistant to the idea.
Cameron
Does this bat have to be broken in? Nick
While the DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 is listed as hot out of the wrapper, we'd still recommend getting about 150-200 hits on this composite bat just to make sure it's completely broke-in.
Tyler
Does the DeMarini Zen have full double barrel all the way thru like the Easton Ghost? Channing
Yes, the DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 features a multi-wall design.
Cameron
Does this bat have a break-in period? Bob
The DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 features a composite barrel. We recommend a break in period on all composite bats. For break in, we suggest 150-200 swings of tee work rotating the bat every 10 swings to loosen the fibers all around the barrel. This should be done before the bat sees live pitching.
Daveron
Would this be a great bat for a 12 year old girl playing for 14U? I am looking for the best bat on the market. She is 5'7" so what size do you think she should be swinging? Norm Wilkinson
The DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 is an excellent two-piece composite bat to consider for a player that is 12 years old. As for what length to get, what is the weight of the player?
Cameron
My girl is 50" tall, weighs 60 lbs. What size would be recommended for her? Cathleen
Per your daughter's height and weight, we would recommend the DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 in a 28 inch size.
Cameron
Is there a warranty with this bat? Krista Sier
The DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19 features a 12 month warranty from the date of purchase through DeMarini as long as a new option is purchased; used bats do not feature a warranty.
Cameron
What is the BPF #? Rick
This 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFS19) has a USSSA 1.20 BPF on it.
Ben
Can this bat be used with light pitching machine dimple balls? Chris Buhr
We would not recommend using the DeMarini CF Zen -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFS19, or any other game bat, with the yellow dimple balls. These dimple balls are not weighted the same as the competition softball and can break down the bat at a much faster rate. For batting cage usage, with the dimple balls being used, we would recommend using a practice bat.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
