Description

Rawlings baseball bats have been pushing the limits of perfection for many years and it doesn't look like they are going to stop anytime soon. This model is intended for your top of the lineup hitter. The VELO -10 USSSA bat is a lightweight bat that will maximize the velocity of each swing and improve the ability to get the barrel through the strike zone. A faster bat offers mastery for those inside pitches and improves overall swing mechanics, so you are capable of hitting the ball hard and far into the outfield. The acoustic alloy composition makes this one of the loudest bats on the field, so you'll achieve a loud ping sound as soon as the ball makes contact. Rawlings: Finest In The Field.

This Rawlings VELO USSSA Baseball Bat (UT8V34) features a drop 10 length to weight ratio, a huge 2 3/4-inch barrel diameter, and the USSSA 1.15 BPF thumbprint located on the taper. The Comp-Lite endcap creates balance, generating faster swing speeds. A straight-wall big barrel provides a larger sweet spot and lowers the resistance experienced during the actual swing, so you are capable of very impressive swing speeds. New for the Rawlings Velo is the redesigned bat grip that appeals to all hand sizes and it helps limit vibration and increases bat control. Purchase this bat and enjoy free shipping and a full 12-month manufacturer's warranty. Don't forget, with our 24/7 customer service, we'll be here for you from click to hit!

So far impressed Josh Mills Coach

Pros: I received this bat as part of a demo program from Rawlings and my 10 and 11 year olds both tried them out last night for the first time. The sound of the bat was pretty solid, one of my coaching buddies even said it sounded like an old school Air Attack. It had some solid pop from all of the kids who tried it out, so I had to hop in and try it out myself. It felt incredible - large sweet spot, nobody complained of any vibration. My son loves the grip on it too, and he's a Lizard Skin junkie haha. I can't truly comment on durability at this point, but I'll bet it's a solid bat for a long time - everyone else in our area is still swinging VELOs from a few years back and zero problem. (which is why I gave it a high-star rating)

Cons: None that the kids noted.

Nice Balanced Bat Dan B Coach

Pros: We demoed this bat with our 13YO team. It had a really balanced feel and much more pop than we expected. The loud sound turns heads in the cage.

Cons: A lot of guys are used to using two piece bats, so the vibration is different for the when the don’t barrel up.

Great Bat CW Parent

Pros: We swear by the Rawlings brand which has been our bat company since my son played in 2017 with our community league for 7u machine pitch (Prodigy29inch -11 USA) My son used this Velo 30 in -10 his first two seasons of 9Ut ravel ball for the spring and fall of 2020. This bat has the old school true aluminium sound and catches the ears of everyone in attendance on solid hits. This bat is.balanced and has great pop. At 4'7' and 75 lbs, solid mechanics allows him to hit the ball as hard or harder than other players twice his size .

Cons: None

How is this model compared to the 2018? James

What is the difference in sweet spot size, pop and overall feel as compared to the Marucci Cat 8? Walker
Both bats should have similar pop and overall feel as they are both balanced, one-piece alloy models. The Rawlings VELO will have a louder ping to it on contact which some players like, and some don't, so that is something to consider. In terms of sweet spot size, I would probably give a slight edge to the Marucci Cat 8, but it's not very significant. It appears to be possibly .5" or so looking at the sample models we have here.

How does the Velo compare to the Rawlings 5150 in terms of pop and swing weight? ARG
This Rawlings VELO -10 USSSA Baseball Bat (UT9V10) and the Rawlings 5150 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat (UT9510) both have just one review at this time and both bats were rated well. At this time, it would be hard to say that one is better in regard to "pop". However, I would say that the VELO probably has been a little more popular in recent years. In regard to swing feel, the VELO will have the advantage in regard to being "light-feeling". It has a composite end-cap that makes the bat feel lighter when swung.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
