Best Marucci Bat for High Level Youth KW_IAH coach

Pros: As the coach of a high level travel ball program, I have always been a fan of Marucci's wood bats. I am very happy to see that marucci has come out with a high performing composite design for the youth market. This bat hits every bit as good as the Eastons and Demarinis and my players think it feels better. I HIGHLY recommend this bat.

Massive Barrel and Great pop Cal_11U player

Pros: This barrel is huge! The sweet spot is literally twice the size of every other bat i've had. The composite has amazing pop. I thought this would have been end loaded, but it really isn't bad at all. Very easy to swing and the ball flies off this thing. Best composite big barrel I've had.

Cons: The green grip looks sick, but gets dirty.

Had to have it to compete! C_Brad coach

Pros: I watched this bat hit 9 hr's in 2 games, 5 of which came against my team! The ball absolutely explodes off this bat. My kids love the look, feel and even the sound of the bat; all of which are unique in a good way. Kudos to Marucci on their first composite bat.

Cons: I wish I had been the first to find this bat

Great Bat for Contact Hitters Scott parent

Pros: The weight is evenly distributed, fantastic pop on contact, very nice grip, big hitting surface, it's full composite. My 8 year old is a contact hitter with speed, he gets this bat around quick for great pop on the ball. My son is a big fan of the black and neon green too, it stands out so much that I have had other parents ask me what kind of bat is that and where did you get it :) I've probably sold a few of them by how much praise I give this bat. Remember...it's a contact evenly balance big sweet spot bat. It's not end weighted.

Cons: Nothing

Parent / Player AL MD coach

Pros: The Bat is hot out of the wrapper. My son who is 11 loves the bat. He has around 800 hundreds swings on the bat and it is still holding up. The performance of the bat seems to good to be true. Typically composites will fail just about the time the ball really starts to fly off the bat. It is still early in the season..

Cons: Nothing yet. Durability ? Fine so far

" IT JUST GETS THE JOB DONE " DD11UTN parent

Pros: My son is 11 and plays competitive ball at the Major level. Each year we have purchased the new "hot bat". Last year we purchased the extremely over priced Mako, which I have to say was easily the biggest let down to date. We were able to demo the HEX composite. We quickly ordered one. The bat has a ton of pop out of the wrapper. My son is a power hitter and traditionally used a -9 end loaded bat. Initially I was concerned about changing to a -10 well balanced bat. I felt that he would loose the ability to hit the long ball. He quickly removed that concern. This bat is for contact hitters as well as power hitters. It comes down to one fact , MARUCCI JUST GOT IT RIGHT!!!! Plain and simple. Maybe all the big name brands should narrow their focus to producing quality instead of quantity. Invest a little more in R&D instead of advertising. IF YOU BUILD IT,THEY WILL COME!!!!!!

Cons: None so far.

Great bat!!! Ellis parent

Pros: Now that my son has used this bat for four tournaments and 10 practices I feel I can write a review of the Marucci Hex Composite 29/19. He plays on a 9u travel team that spends most of their time in the gold major bracket. He's 4'9" and about 90 lbs. He's been a power hitter since tee ball and likes a balanced bat. He has tried alot of bats: Marucci Cat6 Easton S3 Easton S1 Marucci Black Marucci One Easton big barrel Mako Easton small barrel Mako DeMarini CF6 He says the Hex feels most like his small barrel Mako. Balanced with a light swing wieght. He hits the ball consistently 180-190ish feet. With the Hex the ball gets to the fence VERY fast. To break it in we went to the batting cage and I threw him about 400 balls one afternoon. The sound of the bat has that nice composite "crack" to it. He doesn't wear batting gloves and loves the way grip feels. No bat sting. No paint chipping. This bat puts a smile on my kid's face every time. It's his favorite big barrel. Awesome bat guys!!!

Cons: You don't see a lot of these bats at the park. I believe Marucci has priced themselves out of a larger market share.

coon dog Jeff Jones parent

Pros: My son loved this bat right out of the package. It had great pop and he loved the feel of the bat.

Cons: I had the first bat overnight for a Tuesday morning delivery. I left work early to take him to a cage before a game. The bat cracked in two places with 45 mph pitching on a 68 degree day. I sent it back to Marucci and they overnighted me a new one. I was extra carful to do the old style break in by hitting into a net very lightly, rotating the bat. We went to a tournament seeing 70 mph pitching and the second bat lasted four games before breaking in half. This looks to be a great bat for smaller kids and 50-55 mph pitching. I would not recommend it for high level ball. Marucci was great in sending bats and trying to come with a solution.

Pros: Superior feel and pop with trampoline effect Large sweet spot Forgiving for mishits

Cons: We've had three on our team this year and all have cracked in the barrel. Marucci knows this is a problem and recommended the Hex Alloy. That bat has similar feel and pop and doesn't need to be broken in. Warranty replacements are great and come back within a week.

Pros: None

Cons: Bat cracked on two sides on the first day. My son is 11 years old and only 70 lbs. I read that the bat had issues with cracking, but didn't think my son was strong enough. It was 75 degrees out so coldness wasn't the issue. Bat cracked after about 30 hits. Buyer beware!

Missiles 8U Coach/Dad coach

Pros: I have read all of the reviews on this bat and think it's crazy all the complaining about the bat and small cracks.. Do most of you dad's not know that composite bats aren't broke in all the way until you start putting small cracks in them? My son is 8 and about 60 lbs, plays 8U KP. He swings a 29/19 and hits absolute missiles with this bat now that it has a few cracks in it. It takes 600+ hits on this bat to really break it in. We have two of these and the sound and speed of the batted ball is completely different once broken in!!

Cons: Takes too long to really break it in! Some advice would be to have dad take about 200-300 3/4 swings with it before even handing to your kid. Once this bat breaks in there isn't a comparable bat on the market.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Marucci Hex Composite Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC1410? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What is your opinion of this bat? There are not many reviews on it. What bat would you recommend for fall baseball? Is it advisable to have a bat for summer baseball, and one for fall baseball? Debbie
The 2015 Marucci Hex Composite Senior League Baseball Bat: (MSBC1410) is brand new to the market. Therefore, we unfortunately do not have many reviews on this model. However, it will be high performing, and will have a strong sweet spot. As for recommendations for the fall, ultimately it will depend on your playing style. If you are a power hitter, I would suggest an one-piece, end-loaded design. If your game is more representative of a contact-hitter, I would suggest a two-piece, balanced design. It is not uncommon for players for to have two different bats for seasons. If you are using an alloy for both, this type of material tends to lose its pop a little quicker than composites. Therefore, it might a good idea to have two different alloys for the various seasons. However, if you are using composite, I would probably suggest only having one model. This material tends to become hotter over its lifetime, and would continue to perform through multiple seasons.
Merritt
Does it have the "wood bat" composite kind of sound? Matt
The 2015 Marucci Hex Composite Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC1410) will have more of a thud or a crack like most composite models.
Patrick
Will this bat come in a bigger size like a 31" or 32"? marmar
The 2015 Marucci Hex Composite (MSBC1410) will be offered in a 31" size.
Kelby
When will the 2 5/8" barrel version be available? YankeesXV
Unfortunately, we don't have an expected release date for that at this point. Marucci is likely your best resource for expected release dates and potential models, and you can reach them directly at: http://maruccisports.com/contacts. I would assume that model is in the works, but I can't confirm that.
Mac
Is this bat more end-loaded or balanced? Does it compare more to the Easton XL1 or Easton MAKO? Does it favor the power hitter or contact hitter? littleleaguepop
The 2015 Marucci Hex Composite Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC1410) is a very well-balanced bat, so it would be more similar to the MAKO in that aspect. Typically, a contact hitter will gravitate toward a balanced bat, but a power hitter could still swing this bat effectively if they preferred a more balanced bat.
Mac
How does this bat compare to the 2015 Louisville 915 full composite? Does it have the same sweet spot? Ed
Comparing the 2015 Marucci Hex Composite Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC1410) to the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP915X), the Hex has a slightly larger sweetspot because it does not incorporate a connection point like the three-piece design on the Prime. So it has a bigger sweet spot but less sting and vibration protection than the Prime.
Patrick
I am thinking of purchasing the Marucci Hex Composite (-10) youth bat...28 inches and 18oz. I bought a Easton composite bat last season and we just could not get it pop when the kids hit. Will this bat be different? kenny
The 2015 Marucci Hex Composite Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC1410), and all composite bats take 150-200 swings rotating them a quarter of an inch on each swing to break them in, and to get them to their peak performance.
Frankie
Is this bat approved for Little League play? Rays
The 2015 Marucci Hex Composite Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC1410) is not approved for any division in Little League baseball as it has a 2 3/4" barrel diameter and is a composite model that does not feature the BBCOR performance certification mark.
Mac
Why do power hitters favor end loaded bats? steve
The 2015 Marucci Hex Composite (MSBC1410) has a balanced swing weight. End loaded models allow stronger hitters to create more momentum when they take the barrel through the hitting zone. The more momentum they can generate, the more power they should be able to create.
John H
You are advertising this as a 2 piece but it looks like a 1 piece. Could you verify that? JK
Yes, the Marucci Hex Composite Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC1410) is a two-piece full composite design. It features a seamless technology which is the reason why it looks like a one-piece.
John
Is this bat end loaded or balanced James
The 2015 Marucci Hex Composite Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC1410) is a balanced bat.
Damon
Between the 15 Hex Composite and the 16 Hex alloy which has more pop? dices64
"Pop" is more of a term that is associated with the skill of the player rather than a measurable feature of the bat. Due to performance restrictions imposed for safety reasons, most bats within the same certification category will perform to the same level at their peak. The difference, and what you end up paying for, is the feel of the bat (balanced vs. end-loaded, one-piece vs two-piece, barrel size, etc.) and the durability of the bat (how long the bat will perform at that peak level). Which one is best would depend on what you are looking for in those aspects compared to the price range you are looking to stay in. Alloy barrel bats tend to dull faster than composite models which allows composite bats like the 2015 Marucci Hex Composite Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC1410) to have more prolonged and consistent performance over time. Alloy bats will be hotter out of the wrapper but may not last as long at the peak performance level.
Patrick
Between the 15 Hex composite and the 16 Hex alloy which has more durability? Also does weather have something to do with durability? flamethrower
The 2015 Hex Composite and the Hex 16 will be different in design. The composite model will be higher performing compared to the alloy once the composite fibers are broken-in. In colder weather games both bats will have a higher chance of denting or cracking due to the ball becoming harder which causes higher stress on the barrel.
John
Would you suggest this bat for a 10-year-old who is a really good contact hitter or would you suggest the hex alloy? slim
Both the Marucci Hex Composite Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC1410a and the 2016 Marucci Hex Alloy Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBAHAX10 would be great bats to consider for a player who is 10 years old and is more of a contact hitter. The balanced feel of both make this bat easier to control - a perfect fit for the contact hitter. As for the bat to select, it really comes down to your personal preference with regards to alloy or composite.
Cameron
Is the Marucci Hex Composite (-10) MSBYC1410 Senior League Baseball Bat illegal in the 2016 USSSA select baseball tourneys? Pitbull13
To our knowledge, this Marucci Hex Composite Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC1410) and the MSBYC1410 will be legal for use in 2016 USSSA tournaments. We have not received any notice that these bats' USSSA certification has been revoked.
Ben
My son is 10 years old, weighs 70 lbs, and is about 4'4". What length for him? Beach
We would recommend about a 28" length of bat for him.
Kyle J.
Can a six year old use the 27" Daddy Shawn
Generally, 6 year olds do use a 27" bat, so the Marucci Hex Composite Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC1410 in that size would be appropriate.
Logan
Is a 27" okay for my 7 year old? He is about 52 lbs and is just barely over 4 feet. Joel
I would recommend the Marucci Hex Composite Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC1410 in a 28 inch bat length. If you do not think your player can handle a 28" bat, I would recommend dropping down to the 27 inch option.
Dan
Can this bat be used for Cal Ripken league new rule changes for the Spring of 2018? Goobie
The Marucci Hex Composite Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC1410 cannot be used in Cal Ripken in 2018 as this bat does not feature the USA stamp.
