I had a second similar bat but after over a 100 hits it is very flat and has no pop. I've done better with traditional bats. The Miken Ultra II Senior Softball (MSU2) will require a minimal break-in period of about 25 hits or so while rotating the barrel. Keeping the bat in a bat warmer may help the composite fibers to stay loser but the difference would be slight.

The 1.21 BPF will offer better performance than the 1.20 BPF that was on your previous bat, and because of the higher performance, 1.21 BPF bats will not be as durable as previous models. The composite materials will be slightly different than the model you previously used due to upgrades over the years in composite technology.

We do not recommend using the Miken Ultra II Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat (MSU2) or for that matter an bat much below 55 degrees. At those temperatures the baseball or softball becomes harder and denser and the bats are not designed to handle the denser ball potentially causing damage to the barrel.

I used to swing the ultra II 30 oz. everyone started using end loaded bats so I changed to a 28 oz end load. I hit the ball hard still but I don't get the same lift. More hard line drives but fewer home runs. Is there a reason for this. Should I stay with the balanced? BJ
If you saw your best performance with this Miken Ultra II Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat (MSU2) in the 30 oz weight, then I would recommend going with this type of model again. This exact model of the Miken Ultra II Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat (MSU2) will be a balanced model of bat. I would not be able to comment as to exactly why the balanced models have worked better for you in regard to getting more lift on the ball, but I would recommend staying with that a balanced if you see the most performance. I think this MSU2 will be excellent for you!

Since the Miken Ultra II Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MSU2 and all slow pitch softball bats that we have only come in a 34" the length to weight ratio will be different for every weight. If you got a 26 oz. it would be a -12 but if you got a 27 oz. then it would be a -11 oz.

All Senior Slow Pitch bats will feature the BPF 1.21 stamp but they are not approved for ASA or USSSA play. As well, Senior Slow Pitch bats will not feature a warranty from the manufacturer. If the hitter is more of a power hitter or stronger then an end-loaded bat would be more ideal. Before moving forward, would recommend checking on what certification your bat needs to feature per your league rules.

You would only lose power going to a lighter bat if you are not able to make up the loss in weight with an increase in bat speed. If bat speed it the same, the heavier bat will always have slightly better distance.

In order to break in the Miken Ultra II Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MSU2 I would recommend 150-200 hits of front toss or tee work with a quarter turn every 25 hits or so to ensure that you are fully breaking in the model.

The 30 oz model is out of stock, not unavailable, which is why it is just grayed out for now. As for 29 oz vs 30 oz, that is mostly personal preference. 30 oz will be more suited for raw power, while the 29 oz will obviously give you a little better bat speed and control, so it really just comes down to what you feel you would be more comfortable with. My gut says to go with a 29 oz however.

To break in the Miken Ultra II 13.5" Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MSU2, we would recommend 50-150 swings off the tee or soft toss at about 50-70% of max swing effort. Rotate the barrel a 1/4 turn after each swing.

Due to new testing regulations, new models of the Miken Ultra II 13.5" Senior Slow Pitch Softball Bat: MSU2 will have to go through the NTS testing; this stands for the company's name that does the test, National Technical Systems. The Senior Slow Pitch bats, as a result of being USA stamped, will not feature the prior 1.21 BPF marks.
