Description

When MAXCOR deputed last season, it gave use a glimpse into just how far the team at Mizuno is willing to go to make a lasting impact on the game. Another year of R&D and this innovative design is back to change the perception of what a baseball bat can/should be. MAXCOR's tech sheet goes on-and-on, but the highlight of this design is the Viscoelastic Polyurethane Sleeve on its barrel. You won't find this material on any other bat on the market, but it creates not only a longer sweet spot - but a wider circumferential sweet spot. That means that hitters not only receive more forgiveness and enhanced performance closer to the handle and end cap, but they're able to miss the sweet spot on the vertical access at contact and still achieve success. The VP Sleeve also promotes more backspin on contact which results in more carry - and can possibly be the difference between WTP and putting runs up on the board. Under that sleeve lies a new, Variable Wall Thickness Alloy Core. This proprietary core Utilizes 5 different wall thicknesses to optimize performance along the barrel; while still meeting BBCOR standards. Other new aspects to the model include a more-balanced swing weight and a redesigned Dynamic Damper transition piece that eliminates more vibration and is more-streamlined than last the one found on last year's MAXCOR.

The Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: MAXCOR features a -3 length to weight ratio, 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter, and the BBCOR Certification making it legal for High School and Collegiate play. New and Improved! Brady player

Pros: I swung the original Maxcor bat from Mizuno and I think this one is even better. The barrel is softer and sounds like a wood bat but it's the absolute best feeling bat on the market. I see a major performance difference when I use the Maxcor compared to my teammates bats. This bat is sick!

Cons: None

Love this bat Balldad62 player

Pros: I was a little hesitant to try something new. So far I'm very glad we gave this bat a shot. Its very nicely balanced. My son moved up from a 31/28 to a 32/29, he's about 58" tall and weights 155lbs. I was a little concerned about the weight but he is having no trouble at all getting the bat through the zone. He says it has a really good feel when you hit the ball. The grip is nice and sticky which is great for him because he does not like to wear gloves. It seems to have plenty of pop in the BP sessions we've had so far. Other than that its a great looking bat. The sound of the ball coming off it is really nice too. It sounds like a wood bat. So far we are really happy with this purchase.

Cons: None so far

Good Purchase Jonathan72 parent

Pros: Ball jumps off the bat right out of the plastic. Very happy I decided to pick this bat. great price...great bat. my son is 17 and about 170 lbs. and has no trouble getting the 33/30 around. Great weight distribution on the bat. Thank you JustBats.

Cons: Just normal wear and tear on a bat. Nothing unusual for a bat and my son has been using in tournament play all the time and the bat is still in great shape.

Best bat I have ever used Zack player

Pros: Today was the first time I have ever tried this bat, and it is by far my favorite bat of all time. I've never swung a bat that felt so comfortable in my hands. I really recommend buying this

All about innovation Dustin - TX player

Pros: I tried this bat last year but hated the look. Mizuno followed up with a much better looking bat this year. If you are about having an advantage at the plate, get this bat! It sounds different, feels different, looks different but it performs different. I think it hits like my old high school BESR bats.

Cons: None. This bat is awesome!

Know what you are buying OK City Cowboys Dad parent

Pros: I had heard good things about this bat and got it for my son not knowing the barrel is a different/soft material. I wanted to send it back but my son wanted to give it a try. I guess different is good because he loves it. It sounds like a wood bat which threw us both off but the ball jumps off the barrel. We do see a difference in performance when hitting in the cage vs live pitching. The bat definitely performs in game situations. My boy is 6' and weights 195lbs.

Cons: Soft material on barrel and sounds like a wood bat but hits extremely well.

Maxcor = Max Hits Taylor 2314 player

Pros: I love this bat! Now that we are finally outside I can see what the Mizuno guy was talking about at the demo day I attended. The ball really does go farther because of the backspin this bat creates (haven't been able to see that hitting in a cage). It sounds like a wood bat but that doesn't mean it doesn't perform like aluminum or composite bats. In fact I think it's even better, especially against those high velocity fastballs! This bat murders the ball!

Cons: Comes with a cool bat sleeve that I don't ever think I'll use.

Pros: The Maxcor is no joke. Definitely no other bat like it on the market. The ball jumps off the bat & it sounds good too.. My son is not a big power hitter but hit a couple 300 foot shots with it.

1st BBCOR Loving Dad parent

Pros: Sons first BBCOR bat stepping up from a youth bat. Was worried about him getting this bat around however it is extremely balanced and he is having no problem. This bat is as advertised huge sweetspot and no breakin required. Cant wit to see how it performs on the diamond. Havent had bat long enough to rate durability thats why the low rating.

Cons: The bat is different from every bat on the market and draws a lot of curiosity if your not into that attention.

Great feel but lacking pop with slower pitching. Coach Joe parent

Pros: The ball jumps off the very well with fast pitching. My son is a very good high school hitter. Loved the feel of the bat. Very little vibration. Sounded great. Was able to move the ball around the field. Best bat he ever used to bunt with.

Cons: No pop at all with slower pitches. I`m a former college player . I tried it I in the cages. Not impressed compared to other bats. I`m not sold on the gimmicky rubber sleeve. Not sure about durability. It has a 1 year guarantee. They give you a 30 trial. I suggest trying it yourself.

Mizuno BBCOR Maxcor bat KellyL parent

Pros: My 14 year old grandson got this bat a couple of weeks ago, and loves it so far. He's only used it in batting cage, not a game yet. He says its well balanced, with lots of pop. He's looking forward to using it this season.

Cons: Nothing yet- 3 stars for durability, since he's only had it for a short time.

Great bag T parent

Pros: Few people have said no pop maybe your swing isn't right I've used a lot of bats and the way the design these crappy bbcor bats to begin with is crap but out of a lot I've used this is one of the better feeling and pop there is. Then again there is really no pop in bbcor bats that's what their designed for less pop so people don't get hurt like they use too when we used aluminum bats y'all have no idea what pop is compared to my day and this crap they call aluminum you hit one of the ones like I used as a kid the TPX sounded like an explosion and these bats don't vibrate I see that a lot in the comments hit a small handle wood bat in the wrong place with no gloves these are good bats with a lot of technology put into them but 450 for a bat when it first comes out not worth it do most of you know it's the same bat from last year just a different name and color wrapping

Cons: Over priced

The mad max core Baseball Hitter player

Pros: The maxcor is a very balanced bat. I felt a little weird in trying something new, but it worked out. The ball just bounces of the sleeve, and hits farther than the mako, demarini, or lousville slugger. The grip is less stiky than lizard skin, but durable in any condition. I absoultly live this bat, and its hoing for a great price.

Cons: None yet, a little hand sting when you get jammed though.

Pros: The ball feels like it jumps off the barrell. The barrel is huge.

Small Sweet Spot Chris McLemore player

Pros: Bat has a great feel! Very Different from most bats on the market. The new technology is very intriguing.

Cons: Small sweet spot makes it very hard to barrel the ball up. Now of course, when you do barrell it up the bat performs like most top end bads, but it can be a struggle at times.

What is the difference in the 2016 model vs. the 2015 model? Bill
The biggest differences between the two bats is going to be the hitting surface. The 2015 model is going to have the unique hitting surface with the tighter sweet spot, whereas the 2016 model will have the polyurethane sleeve that will also create a wider sweet spot and improve the carry of the ball. The 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: MAXCOR model also has the variable wall thickness alloy core, which uses 5 different wall thicknesses to optimize performance along the entire barrel. On a smaller level, the grips are also different from the 2015 model to the 2016 model.

What is the barrel made of and what is the handle made of? Porkchop
The 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: MAXCOR is going to be a two piece aluminum bat. aluminum. On the barrel it is going to have a Viscoelastic Polyurethane Sleeve. That goes over the aluminum. Here is a link to a video where you can learn more about the MAXCOR. It is different than most bats out on the market and I think this helps describe it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qdV2IeHmJc
Carter
Is there a break-in period required for the 2016 MAXCOR? erat15
The 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: MAXCOR is hot out of the wrapper and it does not require a break-in period.

The 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: MAXCOR is a bat that can be used well by either a power or contact hitter.
Marcus
How would this bat compare to a COMBAT MAXUM or Easton MAKO? baseballman
This 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat (MAXCOR) is quite different from a MAXUM or a MAKO in its general build. MAXUMs are one-piece, all-composite and MAKOs are two-piece, all-composite. This MAXCOR is an alloy bat, but also features a Viscoelastic Polyurethane sleeve on it that creates a bigger sweet spot and allows for better backspin on the ball (more backspin = more carry). However, in regard to performance, all 3 bats are rated extremely well.
Ben
Since it's not exactly a composite construction, can this bat be used at temperatures below 60F? BAM
Despite the 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat (MAXCOR) not being a composite bat, we do not really recommend using aluminum bats in cold temperatures either. They are not designed for that and will be at risk of being dented.
Carter
If I buy this bat now will I be able to use it for the 2017 season? A
Yes, the 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: MAXCOR is BBCOR certified and it will still be approved for the 2017 season.
Jason
Is the color black and red or black and orange? DS
The 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: MAXCOR is black and orange.
Linsey
Why is the barrel soft? dylpickle
The barrel on the 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: MAXCOR is soft because it improves backspin and carry on the ball when you make contact. It also creates a wider circumference in terms of sweet spot with the soft barrel.
Cooper
Does the bat cover tear over time with use? Xanderxl10
The 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: MAXCOR features a 12 month manufacturer's warranty. If this bat were to become defective within 12 months from the purchase date then it would be eligible to be sent to Mizuno for a free replacement.
Cameron
Is the MAXCOR good for temperatures lower than 55 degrees? don
We actually do not particularly recommend using any bat at temperatures below 55 degrees. When the temperature sinks below 55 degrees, the ball becomes denser and has the ability to damage the barrel walls of the bat. If a player is participating in a practice that is being held in conditions with a temperature below 55 degrees, we would recommend using an older model bat that will no longer be used for games or even a wooden bat. If a game is being held in conditions below 55 degrees we would recommend taking BP with a non-game model bat (or wooden model) and then only using the 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat (MAXCOR) in the actual game.
Ben
How does this bat compare with the MAKO Beast of the same size? bill
The 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat (MAXCOR) and the Easton MAKO Beast share a similar two-piece design and balanced swing weight. The main differences between the two are that the MAKO features a fully composite design, which would require a break-in. The MAXCOR bat is a hybrid model, with an alloy barrel and composite handle, so it would be good to go right out of the wrapper.
Tessa
I just bought this bat for my son for Babe Ruth League. I know the bat regulations are changing for Little League and Babe Ruth in 2018. Will he still be able to use this bat playing high school baseball? Will it be legal? NA
Yes, the 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat (MAXCOR) will still be legal for him to use while playing high school baseball.
Carter
I am 5'6 and 120 pounds. Would a 33/30 work for me? Joe
Based on your height and weight, I would suggest a 30" or 31" bat, so a 33" 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: MAXCOR may be a bit heavy for you.
Logan
I'm 5'10 170-180 lbs. Would a 34" be an appropriate size? Cameron Mercurio
Based on your height and weight, you would be on the lower end of a 33" bat, so a 34" 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: MAXCOR may be a bit big.
Logan
I'm 5'8" and weigh 165 lbs. I've been using a 34 inch bat, but what size should I use? duck
Based on your height and weight, I would suggest the 33" 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: MAXCOR.
